The Shengshou 4x4x4 has been used to set the world record multiple times: Feliks Zemdegs (Australia) set the world record of 25.34 seconds at the Shepparton Winter Open 2013 and also The Australian Nationals in 2012. Sebastian Weyer (Germany) set the world record at the Velbert Open 2013 and Mats Valk (Netherlands) set the single and average solve world records with it at the Dutch Nationals in 2011 and the single world record again at the German Open 2012. Sebastian Weyer also set average solve world records with the Shegshou at the Aachen Summer Open 2012 and again at Frankfurt Cube Days later in 2012.

Unusually for a larger cube this cube does allow you to cut corners to some extent, a vital ingredient when speed cubing.
The cube requires no adjusting as the manufacturer's default setting is absolutely excellent.
The cube is approx 6.3cm3 (for comparison, the standard 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube is 5.6cm3).
The cube is simply wrapped in bubble wrap for protection during transit.
